Red Sox team president Sam Kennedy said NESN analyst and Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley was owed an apology after he was verbally blasted by pitcher David Price on a charter flight last month.
“Dennis Eckersley was owed an apology after what happened, clearly,’’ Kennedy told WEEI. “Let me be clear, he received one less than 12 hours after the incident happened.’’
Kennedy did not say if Price or Red Sox manager John Farrell apologized.
“He received one from me. I woke him up in his hotel room in Toronto,’’ said Kennedy. “John Farrell and Dave Dombrowski were aware of that, we had conversations about that.’’

Kennedy seemed to indicate that the aftermatch was handled appropriately by Farrell and Dombrowski.
“I followed up with Dennis and those guys did exactly what they were supposed to do, which was follow up with David Price, given it was a clubhouse matter and they handled that in private as they should,’’ he said.
The Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy reported that when Eckersley boarded the flight from Boston to Toronto, Price stood in front of him and shouted, “Here he is — the greatest pitcher who ever lived! This game is easy for him!’’ When a stunned Eckersley tried to speak, Price shot back with, “Get the [expletive] out of here!’’ Many players applauded.
“It was a regrettable and unfortunate incident,’’ said Kennedy. “As an organization, you mentioned it happened a month ago, we’ve done our best to try and move on from it. Beefs between professional athletes and the media are as old as the game itself. It’s unfortunate and regrettable when they get out in the public domain, but they do happen from time to time.’’

Well The Eck is beloved in Beantown, maybe he is owed an apology from Price, but where does it start to become bothersome that David Price's thick skin has shrunk.
